|It is with great sadness that we learn today of the death of Robin Gibb. Obviously, he is a huge influence on us. Robin was instrumental to the success of the Bee Gees. He co-wrote virtually every Bee Gees song, his lead vocals were singular, and of course . . . THOSE HARMONIES!!! During the '60s, Robin sang lead on some of the Bee Gees' greatest songs, such as Massachusetts, Lamplight, and I Started a Joke. He is also one of the featured vocals on the classics Gotta Get a Message to You and How Can You Mend a Broken Heart. On many of their post-disco albums, Robin has the finest lead vocal tracks.
And then there was Love Me -- a heartbreaking disco-era hit on which he sang lead.
And then there was Mr. Natural.
And then there was The Singer Sang His Song.
And then there was his solo hit Saved By the Bell.
And then there was his other solo hit Juliet.
And then there was . . . yes, you get our drift!
It is bittersweet that tomorrow we embark for the United Kingdom to spend 2 weeks playing the songs Robin wrote.
Thank you Robin. Your music has enabled the members of Tragedy some of the greatest musical adventures of our lives.
Our condolences go out to the Gibb family. Robin, may you rest in peace.
